Steven’s 30+ years as a lawyer includes extensive experience representing businesses and municipalities in environmental matters including litigation, defense of enforcement actions, regulatory compliance and risk management issues. He regularly assists clients in assessing current and future environmental liabilities relating to operations, past and present.
He also regularly counsels closely-held businesses and provides legal services relating to business acquisitions, commercial and residential real estate transaction, and estate planning including succession planning. Steven frequently is retained by other lawyers to counsel on environmental matters associated with business transactions and municipal operations.
Steven began his legal career at Winston & Strawn in Chicago, where his focus was environmental law. His environmental-related resume before then includes a stint in the Water Division of the United States Environmental Protection Agency where he was the Illinois and Wisconsin Project Officer under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
